Road To Fit

So, it's 2009. I'm 28 years old. Will be 29. I used to be fit. Up until 5 years ago, I rode horses competitively. Six days per week, at least 3 hours per day. I was 5'10" tall and about 130 lbs. I could eat anything. I had energy. So what happened?

I packed it up, moved to a new city. Expenses were higher then living a home, of course. Now I had rent and utilities and groceries to pay for. Bleh. So I stopped riding. Heck, I stopped any form of exercise unless you count the 10-15 minute walk to and from work.

Now, I'm 170 lbs. I can pinch about 8 inches. My tummy roll hangs over my jeans. Yeah, those same jeans I have to struggle to get on. My old clothes...they don't fit anymore. I don't look sexy in a tank top anymore either. My thighs are so fat they touch each other all the way to my knees. In short words - I hate the way I look.

So, with the intro of 2009, I've decided it's time to change. Luckily I have the support of my husband, who is on this journey with me. Of course, he's already lost about 15 lbs, the bastard! Men have it so easy.

My goals are simple. Lose weight - I want to get down to about 145 lbs. Get fit - by the end of the summer, I want to be able to run 10km. These are achievable goals, I believe.

Tonight, I probably had the best workout so far. The eliptical machine is evil, I think. It enjoys making me suffer. But tonight, I prevailed. I pushed through everything and just felt really good about the workout. I was exhausted, but I felt alive. Alive.

I invite you to share my journey over the next few months. Perhaps you will join me. I hope you do.
